• Man indicted in theft of 89 guns from Cedar Springs store

    CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. - A man is facing federal charges in the theft of 89 handguns stolen from a gun shop in Cedar Springs.
    A federal grand jury in Grand Rapids indicted Charles Edward Skipp, 39, in the November 2017 theft at Family Farm and Home.
    He's charged with the theft and with being a felon in possession of firearms.

    He is already in the Kent County jail on a $500,000 bond on charges of armed robbery and weapons crimes, jail records show.

    Feds: Man embezzled more than $250,000 from employer

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Federal authorities say a man embezzled more than $250,000 from his former employer in West Michigan.
    Brian John Scalabrino, 46, formerly of East Grand Rapids, was charged with one count of wire fraud and four counts of filing false tax returns. He appeared in federal court on Thursday.
    Authorities say Scalabrino, the former director of finance for Metal Standard Corporation in Holland, altered his payroll records to show a negative federal income tax withholding amount for most pay periods.

  • Kzoo Woman federally charged in bank robberies

    KALAMAZOO, Mich. -
    The Kalamazoo woman who authorities say admitted to robbing multiple banks has been indicted on federal charges.
    A grand jury on Wednesday charged
    Earlisa Johnson with four counts of robbery of a financial institution and one count of attempted robbery of a financial institution.
    Court documents show she is accused of robberies on:
    May 7 at Omni Community
    Credit Union on E. Cork Street;
    Aug. 16 at Fifth Third Bank on Portage
    Street;
    Aug.19 at Huntington Bank on W. Main Street;
    Sept. 5 at the same Fifth
